Motorcyclist Suffers Major Injuries After Collision With Big Rig

A motorcyclist suffered major injuries in an accident on the westbound side of Interstate 10 Monday morning.

California Highway Patrol Officer Joe Zagorski says the motorcyclist collided with the back of a big rig around 8:30 a.m. at the Bob Hope Drive exit, slowing down traffic in an area that saw massive traffic delays on Sunday due to a road construction project that ran over time.

Zagorski said the motorcyclist was driving about 70 mph when he hit the back of the truck, which was traveling around 55 mph.

When paramedics arrived, the driver had suffered “major injuries,” but was coherent and able to answer questions.

The back-up in the half hour immediately after the accident stretched about 2 miles east, while crews transported the driver to a local hospital and cleaned up the accident scene.
