Stranded Hikers Rescued Near Hemet

Deputies rescued two hikers who became lost in the Soboba Hot Springs mountain area in unincorporated Hemet, a sheriff’s department spokesman reported today.

The hikers were reported lost at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the area of Lake Park and Soboba Road, and deputies were able to locate the stranded hikers by helicopter, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Jim Wilson.

Members of the Riverside County Mountain Rescue Unit were summoned, and with the help of the aviation unit, rescued the hikers and returned them to safety, Wilson said.

The hikers, only identified as Riverside County residents, were uninjured and did not require medical attention, the sergeant said.
