Palm Desert Amputee Finds Hope Through Friends

A Palm Desert waiter who lost part of his leg and foot in a motorcycle accident is hoping to walk again, thanks to his co-workers, family and friends.

On Jan. 6, an accident at the intersection of Portola and Desert Star changed Tony Guillermo’s life forever.

A pick-up truck made an illegal u-turn in front of Guillermo, who was riding a street-legal dirt bike.

He tried to avoid the truck but crashed into some parked cars. He was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where his foot and part of his leg were amputated.

Six weeks later, Guillermo is thanking the community for coming together to help him out.

“I can’t believe all the love and support I’ve gotten from everybody. That is what’s keeping me so positive, it really is, honestly,” he said.

Tony’s friends are looking to raise $15,000 for a prosthetic limb.

If you would like to help, you can drop off any donations, at the Backstreet Bistro in Palm Desert.
