Drive-by shooting and car accident hit Palm Springs intersection

At about 9:15 Thursday night, there was a drive-by shooting followed by a car accident on the corner of Ramon and Crossley in Palm Springs.

The incident started in the left turn lane of eastbound Ramon. Two cars were alongside each other, and police say the people in the cars exchanged words. The suspect, who was the passenger in a black CRV, shot at the neighboring car, a white Cadillac. The passenger was shot in the face. It was a graze wound, and she was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The car that was shot at drove off eastbound on Ramon to get away from the shooter, and lost control and collided with a car driving westbound on Ramon. The passengers in that car only suffered minor injuries.

Police found the suspect car in Cathedral City, but neither the suspect nor the driver were in the car.

Police continue to search for the suspect.
