Victim’s identification released after Wednesday crash

Authorities today released the name of a Desert Hot Springs man who was fatally injured in a rollover crash near Cathedral City.

Cesar Reyes, 34, died Wednesday at Desert Regional Medical Center, about two hours after the 2:37 p.m. crash.

Reyes lost control of his Honda Civic while heading south on Mountain View Road north of Varner Road in an unincorporated area of Riverside County near Cathedral City, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Joe Zagorski.

The car spun out and went off the east shoulder of Mountain View and rolled over, according to Zagorski and the Riverside County coroner’s office.

“As a result of Reyes not wearing his seatbelt, he was completely ejected from the Civic during the collision and sustained fatal injuries,” Zagorski said.
