Riverside County offers specials on dog adoptions

Today is the first full day of a $20 “SummerSolstice” dog adoption program at three Riverside County animal shelters.

Continuing through July 14, the $20 adoption fee covers spay or neutersurgery, vaccinations and a microchip. The special is good at the county’sshelters in Blythe, Jurupa Valley and Thousand Palms, according to the countyDepartment of Animal Services.

“The hope is that this special encourages families to visit the shelterand find a dog that helps make their summer even more fun,” said AnimalServices Director Robert Miller.

The special went into effect at 4:08 p.m. Wednesday — coinciding withthe official start of the summer solstice.
