Anchor John White covers Colorado wildfire

Newschannel 3 anchor John White joined sister station KRDO Newschannel 13 in Colorado Springs to help with continuing 24-hour coverage on the Waldo Canyon fire.

White and photojournalist Chris Tarpening landed in Denver Wednesday morning and drove into Colorado Springs, Colo. Their coverage began with a live phone report on Newschannel 3 at noon.

KRDO Newschannel 13 has been on the air 24 hours a day for the past 3 days with coverage of the fire, which was last reported to have doubled in size, to about 24 square miles.

More than 32,000 residents have been forced out of their homes.

White has been stationed at an area evacuation center, where he will be reporting coverage over the phone for KESQ Newschannel 3 and on the air for KRDO tonight.
