Cathedral City makes cuts

The Cathedral City City Council voted 4 to 1 to approve the proposed layoffs toabout 60 city employees,in an effort to save an almost 8 million dollar budget shortfall.

However, the new budget did not even come up for a vote, so the city will go into the new fiscal year without a new budget.

Some council members thought the proposed budget was not balanced.

The city voted 4 to 1 on a continued resolution to fund the city into the new fiscal year.

The issue will be brought back up at the next city council meeting in July.
