Man dies after being pulled from Indio pool

A 42-year-old man who was pulled from a pool in Indio died at a hospital, according to the coroner’s office.

William Eric Johnson of Indio died about 2:10 p.m. Thursday at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital, less than an hour after someone called authorities to a residence in the 48600 block of Andorra Street. Johnson was pulled out of the pool before firefighters arrived, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office said Johnson was found floating in the pool. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, Hendrickson said.

The cause of his death was pending the results of an autopsy, according to the coroner’s office.
