Palm Springs Aerial Tramway sets record for attendance

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway set an attendance record for the fiscal year that ended June 30, the tram’s general manager said today.

The visitor tally was 470,871 — a 5.6 percent increase from the previous fiscal year, General Manager Rob Parkins said.

“This has been an exciting year for us, and we are looking forward to 2013 as preparations are under way to celebrate the tramway’s 50th year,”
Parkins said.

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway opened in 1963.
The tram will be closed for maintenance Sept. 10-23, spokeswoman Lena Zimmerschied said.
