Cops say accused burglar took young child to work

A Desert Hot Springs burglary suspect accused of breaking into a home while bringing his young child along for the ride is set to be in court Friday morning.

Police said both were caught inside a ransacked home on the 13600 block of Inaja Street Wednesday.

Police said a watchful neighbor noticed Darrell Trevon Turner, 19, outside the home. Witnesses said he repeatedly knocked on doors to make sure nobody was there, then kicked in a door and went inside.

Police said they found a bag with several stolen items inside the ransacked home’s garage.

They also found the young child with Turner, who was placed into child protective services.

Turner was booked into the Riverside County jail in Banning.

Bail was set at $25,000.

Turner was expected in court Friday.
