Family loses two loved ones in Sky Valley motorcycle crash

Christopher Goodman says it was our news station’s Facebook post that made him panic.

“I saw a post that two people were killed in a motorcycle accident. I told my grandma to call them. I was worried about it,” Goodman said.

His great-grandmother Janean Goodman called, but no one answered.

“Sure enough, it was them,” said Christopher.

Janean says it was her great-grandson Logan Goodman, 25, who was killed in Wednesday’s crash in Sky Valley. Logan wasn’t alone. His 28-year-old passengerand wife Ivy Ferguson Goodman died too.

“They enjoyed the motorcycle riding and she did too,” said Janean.

She says the married couple of nearly six years had just left her house in Cathedral City on their bike.

Janean says, “They’d find any excuse to come over. He’d say, ‘Grandma when I walk in this door, I feel like I’m home.'”

Only a couple of blocks away from their home in Sky Valley, at the intersection of Dillon and Hot Springs Road, the California Highway Patrol says a speeding truck made a turn in front of Goodman’s motorcycle, which then crashed into the truck.

Logan and Ivy were thrown from the bike and both died at the scene.

Showing us pictures of what she calls young love, there’s one thing Janean says brings her comfort.

“They’re together, still together. One without the other wouldn’t have been happy. They were a team,” she said.

For days, Christopher says he’s been fighting back the tears for his close friend and cousin, until now.

“I know I’m going to see him again one day. I’m going to be there. I’m going to be there.”

Funeral services for the Goodman’s will be held on Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Santana Mission Chapel in Cathedral City. The family is inviting the public to attend the viewing at 12 p.m. and the services to follow.
