Goldenvoice head to speak in Indio about huge music fests

The producer of the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals will speak in Indio next week.

Skip Paige, of Los Angeles-based promoter Goldenvoice, will speak about the “positive impact of music and Indio’s role in the world of music” at the Indio Chamber of Commerce’s State of the City Luncheon and Business Expo on Oct. 26 at the Fantasy Springs Casino, according to city spokesman Chris Escobedo.

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which was held over two weekends in April for the second straight year, brought in more than $47 million, and the Stagecoach County Music Festival, which expanded from two to three days this year, generated more than $13 million, according to billboard.biz.

Both festivals were held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio and are coordinated by Goldenvoice. More than 158,000 people attended Coachella and more than 55,000 attended Stagecoach, according to the Billboard website.

Other scheduled speakers for the luncheon include Indio Mayor Glenn Miller, Rep. Mary Bono Mack, R-Palm Desert, Coachella Valley Economic Partnership President and CEO Thomas Flavin and College of the Desert Superintendent Joel Kinnamon.

A 10 a.m. business expo will precede the luncheon, which costs $45 for chamber members and $50 for non-members.
