Reba McEntire to headline McCallum Anniversary gala

Country star Reba McEntire will headline the McCallum Theatre’s 25th anniversary fundraising gala, a theater spokeswoman said today.

The gala is scheduled for Nov. 30 and will honor Ted Giatas, who was president and CEO of the McCallum until his retirement earlier this year. The gala will benefit theater activities, including its arts education program that serves local schools, theater spokeswoman Cate Ervin said.

“We are very happy that Reba will be making a return visit to the McCallum,” theater president and CEO Mitch Gershenfeld said. McEntire’s last performance at the McCallum was in 1990.

McEntire has sold 56 million records, won two Grammys and starred in her own sitcom, “Reba,” and the Broadway revival of the musical “Annie Get Your Gun.” This fall, she will appear in a new ABC series, “Malibu Country.”

Gala performance tickets are $500. Cocktails and dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. at local restaurants Cuistot, Jillian’s, Ruth’s Chris Steak House and Wally’s Desert Turtle. McEntire will perform at 8 p.m. at the McCallum, 73-000 Fred Waring Drive.
