Burglary suspect arrested in Palm Springs

A Cathedral City man was caught leaving a vacant home with stolen items Friday night, according to Palm Springs police.

An officer was patrolling the neighborhood on the 3900 block of Calle De Ricardo just before midnight, when they noticed 40-year-old Fausto Nunez leaving a home.

According to police, Nunez was carrying a black plastic bag containing copper pipes, a garbage disposal and a pair of metal cutters. Officers also noticed that one of the doors to the home had been recently forced open.

Police searched the vacant home and determined the piping and garbage disposal had just been removed from under the kitchen sink.

Officers arrested Nunez for burglary and for violating the terms of his probation. Nunez is on probation for drug violations.

He was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility.
