“Hangover 3” hangs up traffic

A warning to drivers, driving outside of the Coachella Valley today. Parts of the Corona del Mar (73) Freeway will be closed to film the Warner Bros. movie “Hangover 3”. According to officials, filming will begin around 5:00 a.m. and wrap up around 1:30 p.m today.

And tomorrow, the southbound 73 will be closed between Costa Mesa (55)
Freeway and the Jamboree Road interchange between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. Bristol
Street, which is a frontage road there, is the posted detour.

Northbound lanes will be closed from Jamboree Road to Campus Drive — a
roughly 1-mile segment — from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and again from 7 a.m. to
7 p.m. Sunday.

Farther south, the 73 becomes a toll road, and Warner Bros. will pay the
San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor $20,000 for use of the road, and
as much as $5,000 to cover the loss tolls.

To help keep movie and television production in California, the legislature and former celebrity Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger gave Hollywood $500 million in tax credits in 2009. Now, current Governor Jerry Brown is weighing a proposal to give the industry $200 million more, where companies can use up to 25% of certain expenses to offset taxes instead of going to state coffers.

Stay with us on the air and online for the latest on this proposal.
