Brand New Coachella Park Opens Saturday

If you are looking for something to do today, why not spend part of your day at the brand new Rancho Las Flores Park. The city of Coachella will be holding a community celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:00 a.m. (Saturday) morning.

The park is located at the corner of Van Buren and Avenue 48 in Coachella. The state-of-the-art park includes 3 soccer fields, 2 basketball courts, and walking path which include exercise stations.

This is Coachella newest park to be built in 38 years.

In 2011, the city won a state wide competition for parks and recreation grand funding and was awarded $5 million to design to and build the first phase of the park.

The City is waiting to see if they will receive another $5 million in April to help pay for the rest of the 29 acre park.
