California Teachers Call Upon Parents For Support

So, don’t be surprised if you received a phone call from your child’s teacher sometime today. They aren’t in trouble. It is all part of a phone banking initiative this weekend by local educators, school support staff, college faculty, and retired educators to “get out the vote” about proposition 30.

Governor Jerry Brown spoke earlier this month about his support of the proposition saying, “Proposition 30 is an opportunity for people themselves to not only fix california but to send a message to the rest of the country that we as a people can invest together in our schools and community colleges and the great university of california…a lot is riding on this election!”

The proposition has been struggling in public opinion polls. Critics say the additional tax revenue, if voters approve it, will go toward a wide variety of state programs, just not education.
