Sunday’s “Ride to End Alzheimer’s” launches path to a cure for 2013 “Walk to End Alzheimer’s”

The Desert Rider’s Association and Shadow’s Motorcycle Club have the perfect excuse for taking time out for some fun under the sun this Sunday. It’s the first annual Ride to End Alzheimer’s, a Poker Hand and Lunch to raise monies for the Alzheimer’s Association.

The day begins with the run but ends with a fabulous kick-off party for the Alzheimer’s Association’s annual “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” that happens March 2, 2013. The party is open to anyone interested in taking part in next year’s walk. No bike necessary.

Registration for biker’s begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Palm Springs Harley Davidson 19465 North Indian Canyon Drive. Fifteen dollars includes Poker Hand and lunch.

Don’t have a motorcycle? Don’t worry. A Fifty dollar donation to the Alzheimer’s Association will score you a Poker Hand, lunch and a ride on the back of a bike that you’ll never forget! Event organizer and past president of Desert Rider’s Association, Ken Fort tell us, “Rides will be on a first come basis and you will be able to pick your bike. We will have some helmets available, but if you have one, bring it.”

Along the way, motorcyclists will stop at Emeritus, Palm Springs; Mission Hills, Mirage Inn, Vista Cove, and Emeritus in Rancho Mirage; and Atria Hacienda, Palm Desert. Riders will draw their poker cards at each stop, visit with the residents and show their motorcycles as part of an interactive event for the facilities.

The run will end at the American Legion Post 519, 400 North Belardo Rd, Palm Springs with a barbecue and celebration that serves to launch the 2013 Walk to End Alzheimer’s campaign.
