The River runs dry

The River in Rancho Mirage is still something to talk about and photograph, just not for the usual reasons.

“It looks like the moon. It looks like the surface of the moon at the moment,” Rancho Mirage resident Marc Tipton said.

Marc Tipton and Kevin Ruthven have their camera out and flashing.

“I’m documenting this for myself. Who knows if we’ll ever see it like this again?” Tipton said.

It may be an eye sore, but The River management said there is no major problem, just a broken pipe. That’s one broken pipe that’s getting a lot of attention, though.

“What would the river be without the river?” Tipton said. “We’ve lived here seven years and it’s always been full of water.”

It took three days to get all the water out after the pipe broke. Management said they are currently working with three contractors to see who can fix the problem for the best price.
While they decide who will fix the river, they took this opportunity to clean it.

Management stressed this is no big deal, something they will fix as soon as possible.

The property manager didn’t know a time frame for a completion date, but she said the water will come back sooner rather than later.
