Coroner releases name in deadly Coachella hit and run collision

63 year old Celia Miranda, was struck by a hit and run driver Saturday (11/24) night as she crossed the crosswalk near Avenue 49 and Harrison Street in Coachella.

The coroner’s office says, Miranda later died of her injuries at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio nearly an hour after the alleged hit and run crash.

Deputies found the driver that hit Miranda near the intersection of 6th street and Harrison Street in Coachella. That is where they arrested 30 year old Sara Rojas of Coachella.

Rojas was arrested for suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while
intoxicated and hit and run driving resulting in death. She remains behind bars at the Riverside County Jail in Indio, in lieu of $75,000 bail with a court appearance set for later this week.
