Group to turn in petition aimed at stopping hotel project in Palm Springs

Citizens for a Sustainable Palm Springs plan to turn in a petition calling for a special election on plans for a new hotel as part of the downtown revitalization project at the Desert Fashion Plaza.

The group’s Treasurer, Frank Tyson, says they have collected more than 3,000 signatures and will turn them in Tuesday morning.

The measure, he says, calls for a vote on the hotel portion of the project, which they believe is too tall and would block views of the mountains.

Tyson is also owner of the Casa Cody Inn in Palm Springs.
