Highland man pleads not guilty to beating children

A Southern California man with a history of child abuse has been accused of torturing his two children for misbehaving.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise says 26-year-old Antwone Rattler of Highland pleaded not guilty Wednesday to child abuse and cruelty to a child. He remains jailed.

San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials say Rattler was arrested Monday after his 5-year-old daughter reported that during a weekend visit, he beat her for misbehaving, bound and gagged her, and forced her into exhausting positions.

Her mother took the girl to authorities after noticing bruises.

Authorities say the girl’s 9-year-old brother reported similar punishment.

Rattler was on probation. He pleaded guilty to child abuse two years ago after the children reported that he struck them with a belt until they bled.
