Valley mourns loss of Xavier Prep student

Valley neighbors and students are mourning the death of 17-year-old Greg Friscia. The senior at Xavier College Preparatory High School died early Sunday morning.

He fell on his head after losing control of his skateboard more than a week ago and fought for his life in an induced coma at Desert Regional Medical Center. Police say he wasn’t wearing a helmet.

Greg’s family thanks the community for the many prayers and support.

“He’s missed. We’ll continue to miss him for a very long time. Our hearts go out to his family and friends,” said Xavier Prep Principal Chris Alling.

If you’d like to pay your respects, a funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Palm Desert. A reception will follow at Xavier Prep. School will be cancelled that day so students and staff can attend.
