Parents cry foul in autistic son’s marijuana bust

The parents of a boy who was arrested for selling marijuana at a Riverside County high school claim he was the victim of discrimination because he’s autistic.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise says the parents filed a claim for damages last week against the Temecula Valley Unified School District. They can sue if it’s rejected.

Their son was one of 22 students arrested in December after sheriff’s deputies posed as students in drug stings at Chaparral and Temecula Valley high schools.

The claim says the Chaparral student, who was 17 at the time, has autism and is bipolar. They contend the district placed him in harm’s way, causing him to be entrapped and prosecuted. He was given probation.

The district says any claims filed will be considered in accordance with law.
