Wind Advisory continues Tuesday as desert set to heat up

A trough of low pressure over the west will maintain strong onshore flow through Wednesday, bringing gusty winds to the Coachella Valley and the mountains of Riverside County today, the National Weather Service said.

The agency issued a wind advisory for the mountains and Coachella Valley until 3 a.m. Wednesday.

During the advisory period, sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour were likely to gust up to 50 mph. Isolated gusts up to 60 mph were also possible, according to the weather service.

“The winds will make driving difficult, especially for motorists with high profile vehicles,” an NWS advisory said.

Also, visibility in the Coachella Valley will be reduced due to blowing sand and dust, according to the agency.
