Palm Desert woman faces criminal charges after DUI arrest

A woman suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol when she sideswiped two cars within 10 minutes in Palm Desert, leaving the scene both times, could face possible criminal charges today.

Shelly Brown, 49, of Palm Desert, was allegedly at the wheel of a white Lexus that sideswiped a gray Toyota outside a shopping center parking lot in the 47000 block of El Paseo at 5:28 p.m. Thursday, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Radek Horkel said.

About nine minutes later, the Lexus sideswiped a white Honda at the intersection of Santa Fe Trail and Cook Street, he said.

Deputies located the Lexus a short time after the second crash and arrested Brown on suspicion of DUI, Horkel said.

Neither of the crashes resulted in injuries, he said.

Brown was booked into the county jail in Banning and was released after posting $2,500 bail, according to online records.

She was due in court in Indio on Oct. 1, according to the sheriff’s department.
