Kickoff for cancer research study in Palm Springs today, participants needed

The American Cancer Society is hosting a Kickoff for Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3) in Palm Springs today.

The event is from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Desert Regional Medical Center, Comprehensive Cancer Center on the 3rd floor (1180 N. Indian Canyon Dr, Palm Springs).

To enroll in the study, the Society needs men and women between the ages of 30 and 65 who have never been diagnosed with cancer. More than 300,000 enrollees of diverse backgrounds are needed from across the United States.

CPS-3 is a large-scale, long-term study looking at the lifestyle, environmental, and genetic factors that cause or prevent cancer.

The Society is looking for a host of “Community Champions,” who will spread the word about enrollment opportunities locally, and help recruit new volunteers to join the study.
