Inland Empire gas prices fall 19th consecutive day

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire fell Monday for the 19th consecutive day, dropping eight-tenths of a cent to $3.836.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties is 7.3 cents less than one week ago, 1.9 cents lower than one month ago and 83.4 cents below what it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has dropped 17.7 cents over the past 19 days, including nine-tenths of a cent on Sunday. The dropping prices were immediately preceded by a 10-day streak of rising prices totaling 15.8 cents.

The falling pump prices are the result of a sharp drop in the price of wholesale gasoline, lower crude oil prices and adequate supply to meet demand, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
