Earthquake activity reported for 2nd straight day

For the second straight day, earthquake activity was reported in Riverside County on Tuesday.

A temblor with a magnitude of 3.1 hit the region at 1:21 a.m. today at a depth of 5 miles, its epicenter 14 miles southwest of La Quinta and 16 miles south-southwest of Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.3 rocked the mountains south of the Coachella Valley at 10:33 a.m. Monday and one with a 3.7 magnitude struck the Idyllwild area at 3:44 p.m.
