Fans celebrate Super Bowl XLVIII in the valley

Super Bowl Sunday was alive and well in the Coachella Valley.

“I can’t wait to rub it in their faces,” said one Seattle Seahawks fan, who watched the game with a family of Denver Bronco fans at Burgers and Beer in Rancho Mirage.

Randy Simpson moved here from Colorado and was hoping to watch the Broncos win their third Super Bowl championship.

“It’s my hometown, they had a great season,” Simpson said.

Others just came for the half-time show, and for the commercials.

“I can’t wait to see Bruno Mars,” said Jennifer Ramirez, a Seattle Seahawks fan.

And what’s a party without food and drinks? Super Bowl Sunday meant big bucks for this local bar.

“The financial aspect is great, we get great tips and it’s a great job,” said Alondra Bustos, hostess at Burgers and Beer.

In the end the Seahawks beat out the Broncos 43 to 8, and for Seattle native Derek Hurley watching his team win the Lombardi trophy earned him bragging rights until next season.

“I grew up going to the games but I never appreciated the 12th man. I never experienced anything like it,” Hurley said.
