Indian Canyon open after being closed for days

Indian Canyon has reopened at the wash after being closed for days due to dangerous conditions and sand cleanup.

Police said the road opened around 9:15 a.m. Friday.

Crews worked to clear sand off the road on Thursday. There were two bulldozers pushing large piles of sand to the side of the road.

Barricades were in place to prevent people from taking the route.

The closures of Indian Canyon Drive, Gene Autry Trail and Vista Chino Road were all issued Tuesday evening after heavy wind storms created low visibility from blowing sand.

Gene Autry and Vista Chino were both reopened Wednesday morning, but Indian Canyon remained closed until Friday morning, mostly due to cleanup efforts.
