Wind Advisory in effect for the Coachella Valley and mountain areas

A passing trough of low pressure will bring gusty westerly winds to the mountains and deserts through midday on Sunday. Gusts could top 60 mph, blowing dust could create difficult driving conditions.

A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Coachella Valley and the surrounding mountain areas until 2 pm Sunday. The strongest gusts are expected early Sunday morning.

THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING…

.A TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE MOVING INLAND THROUGH SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA WILL BRING LOCALLY STRONG GUSTY WINDS FROM THE WEST
IN THE MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING.

* WINDS…AREAS OF WEST WINDS 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 50 MPH.
ISOLATED GUSTS TO 60 MPH.

* LOCATION…NEAR MOUNTAIN RIDGE TOPS…ALONG DESERT MOUNTAIN
SLOPES AND INTO ADJACENT DESERT AREAS.

* TIMING…WINDS INCREASING LATE THIS AFTERNOON…THEN SUBSIDING
SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

* VISIBILITY…LOCALLY REDUCED IN BLOWING AND SAND AND DUST IN THE
DESERTS.

* IMPACTS…THE WINDS WILL MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT…ESPECIALLY
FOR MOTORISTS WITH HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. WATCH FOR BROKEN
TREE LIMBS AND OTHER DEBRIS.

A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT WINDS OF 35 MPH ARE EXPECTED. WINDS
