World’s largest gay dance and music festival kicks off today in Palm Springs
The 25th annual White Party, billed by organizers as the world’s largest gay dance and music festival, begins today in Palm Springs.
“What began as a gathering for 300 of my closest friends celebrating the rites of spring 25 years ago, has evolved into 30,000 men from across the world coming together,” said founder and producer Jeffrey Sanker.
Pop singer Ariana Grande will headline the main event at the Palm Springs Convention Center on Saturday.
Other performers include Albanian singer Bleona tonight and girl group G.R.L. on Sunday.
Past headliners include Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Mary J. Blige and Jennifer Lopez.
The event lineup:
— Today at noon: pool party with DJ at the Renaissance hotel;
— Today at 9 p.m.: party with Bleona, DJ Chris Cox and Grammy-nominated producer Tony Moran at the Renaissance hotel;
— Saturday at 10 a.m.: pool party with DJs at the Renaissance hotel;
— Saturday at 9 p.m.: “White Party 25 Icon” main party at the Palm Springs Convention Center, with Grande and DJs Danny Verde and Steven Redant performing as “Bent Collective.” An after-party will follow at the Renaissance;
— Sunday at 11 a.m.: pool party with DJ at the Renaissance hotel;
— Sunday at 3 p.m.: “T Dance,” with G.R.L., DJs, fireworks and Ferris wheel, outside near the convention center. A closing party will follow at the Renaissance.
