Accused DUI driver posts bail after crashing into Coachella restaurant
A suspected drunken driver drove off after crashing into a Coachella restaurant early Sunday morning.
Dispatchers received a 911 call shortly after midnight from the owner of Santa Fe Restaurant, 49305 Grapefruit Ave., about a vehicle causing minor damage to the front window of his business, Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. John Clark said.
The owner gave sheriff’s deputies a description of the driver and the car’s license plate. The driver, 29-year-old Miguel Angel Zarate-Reyes of Indio, was spotted a short time later, Clark said.
Zarate-Reyes was arrested and booked for suspicion of driving without a license and misdemeanor drunken driving.
He posted $2,500 bail and was released from custody on Monday, records showed.
