Voters reject measure ‘F’

In Desert Hot Springs voters appear to have rejected a higher tax on vacant land in the city.

The measure called for raising the parcel tax on vacant lots in the city from just under $30 an acre to more than $370 an acre.

Before elections, proponents including the mayor said crucial city services would suffer is voters did not pass the measure.

Measure ‘F’ needed a two-thirds majority to pass.

It appears to have fallen short with 63 percent , that’s 3 percent less than the 66 percent needed.
