16 year old shooting suspect charged as adult

Murder and attempted murder charges were filed Thursday against a 16-year-old Coachella boy accused of fatally shooting another teen and wounding three other people during a fight at a party in Coachella last
month.

Isaac Fernando Rodriguez, who is charged as an adult, pleaded not guilty
at his arraignment Thursday afternoon on one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder.

Rodriguez, who is also charged with two counts of attempted murder
stemming from an attack last November in Indio, is due back at the Larson
Justice Center on June 16 for a felony settlement conference, said Riverside
County District Attorney’s Office spokesman John Hall.

Rolando Rojas Gonzalez, 16, of Indio was found dead at the scene of the
early morning May 17 shooting in the 84-000 block of Pedro Drive. Three other people suffered non-life threatening wounds, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Rodriguez was arrested Tuesday and booked into Juvenile Hall in Indio on
suspicion of murder, with bail listed at $1 million, Hall said.
