Small brush fire in Coachella

A small brush fire in Coachella kept fire crews busy Sunday. The fire charred more than 3 acres of brush before it was extinguished.

Firefighters received a call at 11:46 a.m. and were sent to the 55200 block of Jackson Street.

The blaze was near trees and a scattering of houses, southwest of Coachella.

It took nearly 50 firefighters to control the fire within 45 minutes.

No injuries were reported in the early stages of the fire, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson said.
