Motorcyclist killed in Highway 74 crash

A motorcyclist died Saturday in a crash with a vehicle on Highway 74 in the mountain area of Garner Valley.

Dispatchers received a 911 call at 9:48 a.m. and sent firefighters to the wreck, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann said.

The California Highway Patrol said the motorcycle was underneath the vehicle.

The crash and investigation forced the closure of eastbound Route 74 at the bottom of the mountain grade, near Hemet, according to the CHP.

The victim’s name has not been released.
