Sheriff’s arrest 11 gang members in sweep

Sheriff’s deputies fanned out to areas frequented by gang members in Moreno Valley and arrested 11 people, a sergeant said Saturday.

Members of a gang task force also targeted 25 probationers to see if they complied with the terms of their court-ordered probation , Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff S. Weaver said.

Most of the gang members were arrested for alleged drug possession but a vast majority of them were also nabbed for violating either their probation or parole, Weaver said.

News about the Thursday night arrests was not made public until Saturday.
