More arrested for murder of Juan Carlos Hernandez

A 16 year old is one of the latest suspects arrested in connection to the deadly shooting of 20-year-old Juan Carlos Hernandez in Indio on June 16.

According to a release from the Indio Police Department, the teenager was taken into custody on July 2 around 2 p.m. on Aladdin Street. The teen was booked into Juvenile Hall in Indio Wednesday evening on homicide charges.

The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office is still deciding if the teenager will be charged as an adult.

Edgar Machado, 21, was also arrested on homicide charges Wednesday at 6 p.m. Another suspect, 22-year-old Rick Steven Jaime, has been charged with aiding and abetting for his part in the murder.

Machado and Jaime, both Indio residents, were already in custody on unrelated charges after police served search warrants on June 26 while looking for the suspected killer. Machado was in jail on a probation violation and Jaime was in custody on a weapon’s violation.

The original suspect arrested on homicide charges was 21-year-old Shawn Anthony Wynn of Palm Desert. He was arrested Tuesday at about 3:35 p.m.

Juan Carlos Hernandez was shot to death while sitting in his car in the Lancer Gate neighborhood near Monroe Street and Miles Avenue around 10:30 p.m. on June 16.

Detectives working the investigation believe all suspects involved in the shooting are now in custody. But if you have any additional information about the case, call the Indio Police Department at (760) 391-4057.
