Cutting hair for charity in Palm Desert
Three Palm Desert-based beauty businesses teamed up to cut hair for charity Sunday morning.
Sherry Mesa The Salon, Strands Hair Color, and the International School of Beauty offered discounted cuts to families, with 100 percent of the proceeds to benefit Living the Dream Foundation.
The Beauty Cutathon raised $1,000 in just four hours.
According to Palm Desert’s business owners, Sherry Mesa and Mirela Marinescu, it’s all part of “celebrating the season’s start and back-to-school spirit within our community while supporting an incredible cause, our youth!”
Living the Dream representative Kacie Quigley says the foundation makes kids with terminal illness feel like super stars.
“We go on festivals and tours all over the world, we introduce them to their favorite artists, they get to go on stage backstage, meet whoever they want, eat with them, hang out on the tour bus, full-all-access vip treatment,” Quigley explains, “It lets them forget everything they’re going through and feeling like a rockstar for the day.”
Quigley, a 2004 Palm Desert High School graduate, says every dollar makes a difference.
