20-year-old woman identified in deadly I-10 rollover

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office has identified a woman who died after rolling her car on I-10 east of Mecca Wednesday morning. The crash happened just before 8 a.m.

Samantha Paige Blackwood was 20-years-old and lived in Alhambra.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Blackwood was driving a 2006 Scion XB westbound on I-10, east of Frontage Road, when she drifted to the left into the dirt center divider and struck a guardrail.

The Scion overturned and was resting on its roof when emergency crews arrived. Blackwood had to be cut cut out of the vehicle and she died at the scene.

The crash is under investigation; officers said alcohol and drugs didn’t appear to be factors.
