Indio man arrested for firing at police

Indio Police say they have arrested one of two people who they believe shot at police officers early Friday morning, leading to an hours-long standoff and causing a family home to be torn apart by police.

Police arrested 21-year old Raymond Joseph Delafuente at his home in Indio on Sunday without incident.

He was charged with attempted murder, assault with a firearm on a peace officer and criminal street gang involvement.

Police say he and a second suspect allegedly fired on officers early Friday morning and ran into an Indio home.

No one was hurt, but police locked down the neighborhood near Monroe and John Nobles Avenue and surrounded a home, believing the two suspects were hiding inside.

The swat team entered the home looking for them and any fire arms. They didn’t find any, instead the family who lives there found their home turned inside out with about $6,000 worth of damage

Delafuente’s bail is currently set at $1,000,000.

Police are still looking for a second suspect who should be considered armed and dangerous.
