Measure U now ahead in Coachella

One race in the Coachella Valley remains too close to call more than a week after the election.

Measure U in Coachella would raise the sales tax from 8% to 9% to help pay for Police, Fire, and other city services.

It’s now ahead by 2 votes out of more than 2,800 votes cast.

Here are the results as of Wednesday night:

Yes 1,424
No 1,422

The Registrar of Voters says there are still about 20,000 provisional and damaged ballots to be counted. It’s not clear how many of them are from Coachella.
