Popular Valley chef killed in motorcycle wreck in Desert Hot Springs

A popular valley chef was killed in a tragic motorcycle crash Thursday night in Desert Hot Springs. According to police it happened at about 7:15 p.m. in the area of Little Morongo Road near 15th Avenue.

Paramedics took 53-year-old Palm Desert resident, Tyrone Love Jr., to Desert Regional Medical Center where he later died. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured, and is cooperating with police.

Michael Bickford, Owner of Miracle Springs Resort and Spa, says “we are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Capri Chef Tyrone Love Jr. Love worked with us on and off for 12 years and was instrumental in bringing the successful Capri Restaurant from Downtown into the resort 3 years ago. He was also very active in the cooking community across the valley, he was runner up several times in the Crater Lake Chef Challenge and won many Valley chili cook-offs. He was also a great example to the staff. We send our condolences to his family and friends.”

Bickford also says the restaurant will remain open. It’s still not clear what caused the collision, an investigation continues.
