Fundraising goal met: Mecca Catholic Church set to open soon

For the last eight years, about 3000 Catholics in Mecca didn’t have a church to worship in. Saturday night, At the Sacred Heart Gala, Father Lincoln announced that 3 million dollars was raised to build Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Mecca, and we learned on Monday that construction is complete and the church is set to open later this month.

Fundraising efforts have been ongoing, even though all funds from the Sacred Heart Gala on Saturday night go to the school, parishioners have helped secure the funding needed to build the church in Mecca.

There is no set date yet on the official opening, but look for an announcement coming from the church soon. Mecca has been without its own Catholic Church for 8 years since a roof caved in closing the previous church forcing the Mecca Parish to worship in a tent.
