Light and prayer vigil to support 5-year-old Desi on Monday

Join family, friends and all who have fallen in love with 5-year-old Desirae Cechin for a prayer and light circle Monday at 6 p.m. at Palm Desert Civic Center Park.

Desi and her family learned Friday her cancer is back.

To show support of her fight against the disease, participants will meet at the playground and are asked to bring a non-flammable candle.

If you can’t attend, organizers ask you to take a picture of your candle at 6:10 p.m. on Monday and post to the event Facebook page.

Last summer Desi went to Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York for treatment of Neuroblastoma, which is an aggressive form of cancer.

The surgery went well and her scans showed no evidence of cancer, but since then doctors said her new scans showed the cancer returned in an aggressive way.

Desi’s mother posted the new information on the “Believing For Desi” Facebook page and said doctors are discussing stopping treatment.

Stay with News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2, we’ll bring you any new updates on Desi’s courageous fight.
