La Quinta man released from jail due to lack of evidence

A La Quinta man who was arrested last Wednesday on allegations of sexually assaulting a minor has been released from jail due to a lack of sufficient evidence, San Bernardino County District Attorney Spokesman Christopher Lee said.

According to to the sheriff’s department, Shaun Corcoran was released from jail on Friday. The Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station was investigating the charges, which the victim said dated back to 2011.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 contacted the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office Monday morning to get more details about the charges being dismissed.

Lee said he’s not able to go into specific detail, which is standard protocol for the district attorney’s office when it comes to commenting on cases that are turned down.

Officially, all he was able to tell us was the case was turned down due to a lack of sufficient evidence.

The sheriff’s department sent out the arrest information last Thursday, and at that time investigators were asking anyone with information to come forward in the event there were more potential victims.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 are working to get more details about the dismissal and we’ll update our information if/when they become available.
