Mayor Pougnet announces first tenant of downtown project

Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet announced the first tenant of the Desert Fashion Plaza Revitalization Project at Thursday morning’s State of the City Address.

The first business to open shop will be ‘west elm’, a furniture store that launched in Brooklyn, NY in 2002. According to west elm’s website, the store specializes in helping customers express their personal style at home.

The Wessman Development Company project is starting to come together in downtown Palm Springs.

Eventually, it will include stores, restaurants, office space, and a boutique hotel. Infrastructure improvements are being paid for with Measure J funds, a voter approved sales tax increase.

The Mayor’s State of the City Address took place at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Palm Springs Convention Center. News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 will continue to keep you informed as more tenants are announced for the Desert Fashion Plaza Revitalization Project.
